The sixth round of the 2025 NASCAR Cup season takes place at Homestead-Miami Speedway, and according to city officials on Thursday, that remains unchanged despite ongoing brush fires in the surrounding area.

In its latest statement, the City of Homestead said: "The NASCAR Cup Series events at the Homestead-Miami Speedway are set to continue as scheduled." The same report warns against those with respiratory conditions spending too much time outside, and notes how the fires have been responsible for brief power outages for Homestead residents. The fires are also 20% contained at this time.

The Homestead race track hosted NASCAR's championship finale every year between 2003 and 2019, but the circuit has moved around quite a bit in recent years. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was moved to June of 2020 before becoming the third race of the year in 2021. For the three years after that, it returned to the playoffs as one of three critical races in the penultimate round where a win could guarantee a driver a spot in the Championship 4.

However, the race returns to the early portion of the season this year, running in March for the very first time in what will be the second-earliest the event has appeared on the NASCAR Cup schedule. It's a triple-header weekend as well with Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series en route to Miami-Dade County.
