Marc Marquez’s victory at the Thailand Grand Prix provided the perfect start to his 2025 MotoGP season, delivering an emphatic win on his Ducati debut. The rider outpaced his younger brother, Alex Marquez, with the duo securing a one-two finish—a special moment for the family.

The win was particularly emotional for their father, Julià Marquez, who shared his thoughts with Sky Sports in a heartfelt statement.

"My heart had already exploded on Saturday and again on Sunday," he said during the broadcast. "It's a beautiful emotion and I'm really happy."

A Perfect Weekend for Marc Marquez

Marc, who qualified on pole the day before, also dominated the sprint race, leading every lap and maintaining a lead over his brother. While Alex Marquez briefly fell back into the pack, he recovered quickly, keeping pace with a charging Francesco Bagnaia, who held second for a short time but couldn’t maintain his position.

The Gresini Racing rider gave his brother his worst as he managed to chip away at the advantage Marc held over him. At one stage, Alex brought the deficit to under a second, but he was unable to launch a full attack.

The Grand Prix followed suit, and after contact at Turn 1 between Alex and Bagnaia which dropped the former to third behind Ai Ogura, he was able to quickly dispatch both riders and return to the position behind his brother.

“I wasn't even close to stopping them,” Bagnaia said. “I tried but it was like in the cinema. I was there behind, I was trying to catch them back.

“I gave my all and I couldn’t be too close to Alex to try and attempt [a move].

“Marc was playing with us all the race. Also, for his problem with the [tyre] pressure but as soon as he decided to go, he gave to me like 2.3s [gap] in three laps.

“He was much, much faster and I have to improve, learn what he is doing better and close this gap, because I know that the next two race weekends are very good for both of them, but I need to be closer.”

Midway through the race, Marc appeared to slow down, seemingly struggling with a mechanical issue, allowing Alex to momentarily take the lead. However, the eight-time Grand Prix world champion quickly regained pace, reclaiming the lead on lap 23 before sealing victory by 1.732 seconds.

"I don’t know why Marc decided to stay behind Alex for most of the race," the father continued. "It still remains an incredible joy as a father."

After leaving Honda in a mutual agreement, Marc was able to come back stronger this year with the Italian team.

His father remains confident that the move will allow his son to challenge for the title once again.

"I knew Marc would be strong with the factory Ducati, because the bike is competitive and he came back strong again."
